ウェールズ地方のファームハウスに滞在しました。
義母の旧友ジェブが住んでいるので友達夫婦とお世話になったのでした。
ジェブとパートナーのマイクは、ロンドンからそこに移り住んで２５年以上だそうです。ファームを購入し、イギリス人の大好きなDIY（自分たちで改装）をし、今も更に改装し続けています。ここはマイクのサクラダファミリアです（笑）永遠に終わらない改装だそうです。
家の中はピーターラビットの絵本に出てくるような作りで、広い建物の２階に大きな部屋が２つあり、ベッドは全部で４台。マイクが２ポンドで買ったらしい昔ながらのオーブンがあり、そこに木を入れ、木炭を入れ、それが家の中を暖めてくれます。携帯の電波ももちろんインターネットもないので、下界から遮断され、マイク自慢の音響設備で音楽を聴きながら読書をし、ゆったりとした素晴らしい時間を過ごせました。
そしてイギリスの田舎ですることと言えば必ずハイキングです！頼りない地図を片手に何となく目的地を決めてもくもくと歩きます。途中でスナックを食べ、さらに歩きます。３時間くらい歩き終えて山頂に着いた時に、きれいな野生の馬が雨水でできた池で水を飲んでいました。こんな風景が私が生きている現実の世界と共存するんだなと、あまりの美しさに感動しました。
ロンドンから車で５時間、ウェールズにはウェールズ地方の言葉があり、車の標識もウェールズ語と英語で表記されるようになり、独自の文化が流れています。美しいイギリスの田舎にまた出会えた旅でした。
Ben and I visited Vivienne’s friend Jeb who has lived in South Wales for over 25 years. Jeb and her partner, Mike have been remodeling their farmhouse since they moved there. And these farmhouses are Mike’s “La Sagrada Familia”, Antoni Gaudi’s church in Barcelona which is never gonna stop being worked on !
The farmhouse we stayed in was very big, 2 bed rooms upstairs and 4 beds in total. There was an old oven which Mike bought for only £2 😉 Ben and our friend Andy made a fire every morning and evening to make the house warm. Of course we didn’t have any phone reception and internet connection, so we enjoyed being isolated by busy daily life with reading, listening music ( Mike has a great sound system!) cooking, drinking and talking.
We also enjoyed hiking. And when we reached to the summit I was sooooo amazed by the sight of seeing some wild horses that were drinking water in a pond which was made by rain. This beautiful scenery and my real life are in coexistence! What a beautiful world!
ハイキングの途中で愛犬ジャッキーがつらそうに歩いているのに気付きました。地面を見ると、一面がとげとげの野草で覆われていました。なので私たち夫婦と友達夫婦とでジャッキーを抱えてハイキングしたのでした。
A while later we noticed our dog Jackie seemed to be having a hard time walking until we looked closely and the ground was completely covered with young small gorse plants which had leaves like needles. We are a happy family, so we and our friend Ya-Hsin carried Jackie. (Thank you darling!) And Jackie looked so happy!
