日頃よりお世話になっているお友達アンディーの誕生日で、なかなか予約が取れないというロンドンブリッジ近くの素敵なパブに行ってきました。ガーデナーアンディーはベンがWorld’s endのブログにも書いていますが、とてもユニークなオシャレセンスを持った人で、ヴィヴィアン・ウエストウッドのメンズ、2009/10年の秋冬コレクションのテーマにもなっています。
We went to a nice pub in London bridge where you must book in advance for our dearest friend Andy’s birthday. A gardener, Andy has a very unique fashion sense and he was the theme of Vivienne Westwood MAN’s 09/10 in Milan. Ben wrote about him in World’s End blog.

パブの中はお昼過ぎからテーブル席はすでに空きがなく、バーカウンター周りも立ち飲みの人たちでひしめきあっていました。イギリスにはそれはもちろんたくさんのパブがありますが、ここのパブは内装がとっても素敵。イギリス紳士が集まったんだわと思えるような重厚で、何となくインテリに見える作りです。
There was no vacant seat at lunch time and the pub was so packed even around the bar counter. I liked the interior of this pub. I could imagine British intelligent gentleman like Andy having get togethers in this pub ages ago.
I’ll explain about a Christmas cracker in Japanese a bit.
この時期と言えばクリスマスクラッカーです。クラッカーを二人一組で引っぱり合うと、中には王冠とプレゼント、そしてジョークを書いた紙が入っています。さすがにクリスマスクラッカーは日本では見たことがなく、どうやらイギリスのクリスマス時期だけの習慣のようです。
こちら引っ張った後のクリスマスクラッカー。。。
これが中に入っているジョークですが、ジョークの意味がまだ私には理解できません。。。
久しぶりに会ったロバートは、青色の王冠が中に入っていたようで、彼がかぶってきた青色のニットキャップとマッチしていました。
Robert got a blue crown which coincidently matched the blue knit cap he was wearing before.
