シェールガスを採掘するためのフラッキング（水圧破水法）反対派と賛成派のディベート、Talk Fracking が英国中を巡回してロンドンへと戻ってきました。しかしそこに賛成派の人は一人も現れませんでした。
Talk Fracking was supposed to be a debate between those against fracking and those for fracking which would travel all over the UK and ended up back in London but not really in a debate because none of representative of for fracking turned up.
ウェストミンスターのメソディストセントラルホールでのTalk Frackingに参加してきました。
まずはベンの弟ジョーのスピーチからです。
We joined the Talk Fracking in the Methodist Central Hall in Westminster. It started off with Ben’s brother, Joe’s speech.

There were 6 panelists and Jon Snow from Channel 4 was the chairman.

パネリストからの意見と、聴講者からの意見を出し合うわけですが、こういう時にいつも感心するのは、受け身の授業の日本では聴講者が意見を出すなんて有り得ないことが、英国では聴講者からの意見の方がたくさんあるということです。
I’m always impressed by audiences in the UK by the way they participate in debates. Audiences in Japan never say anything because the way we are taught is to always be passive.
私たちの友達アンディーも面白い発言をしました。「利益があるからフラッキングをする。そのせいで水が汚染しても 、水をきれいにすればいいじゃないか。そこにまた利益が発生するんだからって。結局問題は人間の考え方なんだ。」と。また他の人は、フラッキングなんかよりヘンプの方が余程使い道があるよって。様々な意見が出るわけです。
Our friend Andy said in public a very interesting thing, he said “People do fracking for money. If the water gets dirty then they can clean the water for more money. This is good business. It’s all about people in the end” and another guy said that hemp has no waste and is much better than fracking as an energy source. Many opinions were there.

そしてこの日の、私たちの真のスーパーヒーローだったのは、ロシアトゥディでいつも見ているマックス・カイザーとステイシー夫妻でした。二人とも素敵でした！
But our true heros on this day were Max Keiser and Stacy from the news channel Russia Today. We love their program very much!!! They both were very lovely!

ただいま開催中のチェルシーフラワーショーに、友達のヤシンと行って参りました。
I went to Chelsea flower show which started this Monday with my friend Ya-Hsin.
とにかく天気の良い月曜日でしたので、午前中の間に屋外の展示を見て、日が強くなってから室内を見ようと駆け回りました。敷地がとにかく広いのです。
It was a very sunny hot Monday, so we walked to look at the flowers outdoors first then went inside. The venue is quite huge.

These plants are all hanging from the ceiling.
しかし下に鏡があり、鏡を見ると植物が普通に配置されてるように見えるのです。
But there is a big mirror underneath, so they look the normal way up if you look at them through the mirror.
次は私とヤシンの理想となった建物＆ダイニングです。

前を通っただけでゴージャスな香りに包まれた薔薇だらけの展示。ピンクのお召し物の方はイギリスのガーデニングのテレビ番組に出てる有名な方だそうです。
A famous TV presenter who is on a gardening program was in the rose garden which smelled so gorgeous.
空港をイメージした展示ですが、これは植物の輸出入には制限があることを知らせるため。
I liked this airport garden design which is about ” Plants need passports too!”
お花畑のようで、色の組み合わせが好きでした。青いお花は涼しくて湿度があるとこでしか育たないそうです。北海道向きだと花屋さんとヤシンと３人で解決しました。
I also liked this colour mixing, so natural and beautiful. The blue flowers are grown only in cool and humid weather. So these might be suitable in Hokkaido.
フラワーショーの会場はロイヤルホスピタルと言い、退役軍人が住んでいる場所で行なわれます。この周りを歩くと、赤や黒の制服を着たおじいさん達によく会うのですが、この日は初めて女性の赤服の方を見ました。
This was my first time to see ladies wearing the red uniform of the Royal Hospital.
去年が100周年だったこのフラワーショーを、会場近くのスローンスクエアのショップが花を飾って盛大にお祝いしていましたが、今年も去年ほどではないですが、にぎわっています。
It was the 100th anniversary last year, so many shops around Sloane Square celebrated by decorating the front of their shops with many flowers. This year some shops are still joining the flower show.
フラワーショーは明日までですが、会場まで行けない方はスローンスクエアに行かれても十分ショーの雰囲気を味わえると思いますよ。
The show will end tomorrow but you can enjoy the atmosphere by just walking in Sloane Square.
It was our wedding anniversary yesterday. I had been very busy since morning with meeting my clients then working at home but everything went smoothly and I wanna call this day “Such a mint day! “.
昨日は私たちの結婚１周年記念日でした。朝から打ち合わせなどこなして忙しく過ごしましたが、全てがスムーズに行き、とっても完璧な１日でした。（英語豆知識ですが、上記英文で完璧な日のことを「mint day」と表現しました。日本語で言うピン札のことを英語ではmint conditionと言うことから、mintはハーブのミントだけでなく、「完璧な」と言う形容詞としても使えます。）
I know how soppy I am, so I asked Ben for a lunch at Doodle bar where we had our wedding reception last year. At that time the bar was filled with so many flowers for our reception and I still thank our friends Andy&Ya-Hsin who did that great job for us.
何だかメロドラマっぽい私ですが、記念日でしたので、去年私たちが披露宴をあげた場所でランチしようとベンを誘い、同じ場所で（スタジオからも自宅からも歩いてすぐな場所ですし）ランチしたのでした。去年の披露宴は私たちの友達アンディとヤシンのおかげで会場はお花でいっぱいに満たされていました。
We booked to see a ballet tonight and what a coincidence! We met Fernando at the studio! Fernando is a top ballet dancer of the Royal Ballet and also a friend of Vivienne’s. He happened to pop in and when I told him that we were going to the Royal Opera House to see ” The winter’s tale” and he told us he is in it and he would dance for us.
その日の夜はバレエを観に行く予定にしていました。ベンと一緒に一旦スタジオに戻ったら、何とフェルナンドが居るじゃありませんか！フェルナンドはロイヤルバレエのトップダンサーで、ヴィヴィアンの友達でもあります。たまたまスタジオに来てたのですね。私たちがオペラハウスに、シェイクスピアの「冬物語り」を観に行くことを伝えたら、「二人のために踊るね」と言ってくれました。
The ballet was about 3 hours long including 2 intervals. So we went to the bar for a drink. Isn’t it interesting to look at the bar which is in the air?
休憩を2回入れての３時間のバレエ。休憩の間にオペラハウスのバーでワインを飲みました。あんな宙に浮いたようなとこにもバーがある！
The ballet was absolutely beautiful! I liked the 2nd part the most especially. The set was a big green tree and blue sky, dancers were wearing colourful costumes and the music! Of course there was an orchestra under the stage but some players also played their instruments on the stage. Fernando told us the music is brand new, composed by British composer Joby Talbot specially for this ballet. We both liked everything.
バレエはとっても美しかったです。特に私は２幕目が好きだったのですが、色鮮やかな舞台で、大きな緑の木に青い空、ダンサーのカラフルなコスチュームに音楽。舞台下にあるオーケストラだけでなく、舞台上でも楽器が奏でられていました。フェルナンドが音楽はこのバレエのために新しく作曲されたもので、イギリス人の作曲家ジョビー・タルボットが作ったものだと教えてくれました。
Fernando invited us back stage and he became our tour guide after his long day. Ben was posing in one of their studios. ( He showed his flexibility off to a professional dancer ;))
フェルナンドが終わってからバックステージへと招待してくれました。長い一日が終わった後に、わざわざ私たちのためにロイヤルオペラを案内してくれたのです。ベンはプロを目の前に柔軟性を見せびらかすかのごとくポージングしました笑
Fernando told us toe shoes are very important for ballet dancers and they use tons. Some of dancers he knows use 3 pairs of toe shoes a day.
トゥシューズはバレエダンサーの命で、数えきれないほど消耗するそうですが、フェルナンドの知ってるダンサーの中には１日に３足を履きつぶす人もいるそうです。
I told Ben that everything went very well and I felt it has been getting better day by day. Then he told me that next year we might be on stage at the Opera House. Haha!
ベンに１日がとてもうまく行った事、むしろ日に日にうまく行っている気がすることを伝えると、「そうだね、来年は自分たちがバレエのステージに立ってるかもしれないしね。」と言われました笑
