スコットランドのブレーマーというところに３月初めに行きました。ちなみに去年はこの近くで１月の真冬にキャンプをしました。エディンバラやグラスゴーのような主要な都市には行った事はないのですが、スコットランドを訪れるたびに、前世があったなら、まちがいなく私はここに居たなと感じるのです。I went to Braemar in North East Scotland at the beginning of March where we also camped last year in January. I’ve never visited a major city such as Edinburgh or Glasgow but I always feel like my previous life was in Scotland every time I visit there.
ロンドンではクロッカスや水仙が咲き乱れる時期に、スコットランドはまだスノードロップスが雪と一緒に顔をだしていました。Snow drops were all over the snowy ground here compared to crocuses and daffodils which were all over London.
今回は、コテージを借りて滞在したのですが、翌日雪山キャンプに行くベンや友達のテンションの高さってば、半端じゃなかったです（笑）加えてジャッキーも有頂天でした。We rented a cottage this time and Ben and his friends who were going camping the next night in the snowy mountains were so excited, Jackie was in heaven too.
私は今年は雪山キャンプは棄権しましたので、その代わりにコテージ周辺を散策したり、結局雪山に登ったりしました。私の出で立ちや山を登る姿こそが、まさしく山ガールだと日本から来ていた友達に言われました。誇りに思います！I abandoned my right to go camping in the snowy mountains this year, so I went out walking and climbed the mountain near the cottage. My friend who came over from Japan and joined our trip told me that my outfit and the way I climb mountains look like I’m a real mountain girl. I’m honoured to be told 😉
こんなスタートは緩やかな優しい山でしたが、友達はもう疲れてるのが見えますね。（荷物重かったしね！）The mountain we climed was very nice and easy walking to me but my friend looked tired already.( because she carried heavy cameras.)
初めのうちは景色を楽しむ余裕もあり、私は楽々と登っていたのですが、段々と雪山になってきて、最終的には一歩足を進めるのにものすごい努力が必要になり、登山開始したのが遅かったこともあり、頂上まで行くのは断念しました。そんな疲れを癒してくれるのはいつもジャッキーです。彼女はいつも遅れてる人を気遣って迎えに来てくれます。I enjoyed climbing up and looking at the beautiful scenery but the snow was getting deeper as I climbed up and I had to make a big effort to make my legs move. So in the end, I gave up walking up to the summit because it was late already and I was tired but Jackie eased it a bit. She always looks after someone who is walking slowly.
私たちがコテージを満喫し、雪山散策をしていた一方で、ベンたちボーイズチームは、大荷物を抱えて歩きに歩いてキャンプに行き（もちろん私たちは、キャンプ場でキャンプはしません。）そこから大山に登り、登頂から興奮状態で電話がかかってきました。ベンの言葉ですが、人間って何かにつけて目的を必要とする生き物で、山登りのいいところは、そういうかこつけた目的が必要ではなく、とにかく無になって頂上へと向かっていけるところだと。そんなベンは今年の夏に富士山に登る気満々でいます。While I enjoyed staying in the cottage and walking in the mountains, Ben and his firends carried heavy rucksacks to their camp ( of course we don’t camp in the camping site, it’s boring! ) and climed up to the top of the snow mountain the next day. Ben phoned me with his excitement. Ben told me that normal life is full of complications. Good thing about climbing mountains is that it is straight forward. You can climb up to the top without thinking much. Ben is thinking about climbing Mt.Fuji in this summer in Japan!
３月１９日に、フラッキングの会合がナイツブリッジ（有名デパートハロッズなどがある辺りです）で開かれるので、その反対デモに参加すべく、ヴィヴィアン・ウエストウッドのスタジオで働くほぼ全員と共に、スタジオがあるバタシーからナイツブリッジまでをマーチングしました。We marched from Battersea where Vivienne Westwood’s headquarters is to Knightsbridge where the shale gas forum was supposed to be held with most of the people working for Vivienne’s studio on the 19th of March for an anti fracking demonstration. 
バタシーブリッジ→テムズ川を渡って→キングズロードを歩き→スローンストリートを歩き→ナイツブリッジに到着です。距離にして2.3マイル、約3.7kmのマーチングでした。We walked from Battersea Bridge along the Kings’s Road and up Sloane Street to Knightsbridge which is 2.3miles.
ベンが数えたところ、252人＋犬２匹が一緒に歩いたと判明しました。Ben counted and 252 people ＋2 dogs were marching together. 
今回のデモの情報を聞いて、本来の会合場所を直前になって変更したらしいのですが、新しい会合場所がオールドストリートだと分かり、そこまで大人数で移動しました。The participants of the shale gas forum had changed their location at the last minute but we found the new place which was at Old street, so we all caught the tube there.
オールドストリートの軍施設の中で会合が開かれてる間、ヴィヴィアンや他の活動家の皆さんがスピーチをしたり、詩人がポエムを披露したり（ソウル・ウィリアムズみたいなやつですね）DJがこの日のために作った曲に合わせてそれぞれに踊ったりとしていました。While the forum participants were having their meeting in the military buildigs in Old street, Vivienne and other activists made their speeches, read poetry and danced to a DJ’s music which was made for this demo.
ベンもインタビューされたり（マイクかぶってごめんね）、テレビ局やメディア、ファッション雑誌のi-Dも取材に来たりとそれだけ話題性があったのだと思います。Ben was interviewd ( sorry about the mike on his face) . Channel 4, other media and the fashion magazine i-D came over to see the demonstration which means this demonstration was newsworthy.

ロンドンに移り住んでから、既に何回も様々なデモに参加しましたが、今回のデモはとってもオシャレで、でも見栄えだけじゃなく、参加しているみんなが今ここで何が起きているのかをよく理解していました。フラッキングのことを知らなかった町行く人たちが、マーチングする私たちに説明を求めたり、車道を止めてまでも質問してきました。これで政府がフラッキングをやめれば、イギリスは本当に民主主義だということが証明されます。I’ve already been to many demos since I moved to London but this was the most fashionable one I’ve ever been on. People walking or driving on King’s road asked us what fracking is and were blocking the road a bit while we explained. So from my side, I can say that this will prove to me whether the UK is a really democratic country if the government stops fracking.
レイクディストリクト（湖水地方）のグラスミアに、イギリスの詩人ウィリアム・ワーズワースが住んでいたということもあり、この地にワーズワースのメモリアルガーデンがあります。彼の書いた水仙の詩はとても有名で、水仙が咲くこの時期に、この場所を訪れる事ができたのは感慨深いものがありました。We visited the Wordsworth Daffodil Memorial Garden in Grasmere where the poet lived for 14 years. I was deeply moved especially as I visited there in the season of daffodils.
この石碑に水仙の詩の最後の一節が書いてあります。声に出して読みましたよ。We read aloud the last part of the daffodils’ poem which was carved on the stone.
敷地内には艶やかなクリスマスローズも咲いていました。There were charming helleborus in the garden.
ガーデンの外をちょっと散歩していますと、こういった素敵なお庭を目にします。私の両親はお花が大好きなので、日本では毎日お花に囲まれて生活していました。父は育てるのが上手で、母はどんなお花でも生けるのがとても上手。母の影響もあり小原流の生け花を私も１０年ほど学んでいたのでとにかく私もお花が大好きです。本場イングリッシュガーデンのお陰でイギリスでは散歩がてらにいつでも四季折々のお花に出会えます。We took a walk around outside the garden and I saw lovely plants there. My parents love flowers very much and I was raised with flowers. My dad is good at growing them and my mum is good at arranging them and even wild flowers too. I learned the Ohara style of ikebana ( Japanese flower arrangement) for 10 years because of my mum’s influence, so I love flowers very much too. I love being in England because I can see many seasonal flowers every step I make.

ここレイクディストリクトは、山と山、または湖など、自然が密になっていて、まるで絵本の世界にいるような気分になります。The Lake District is very dense with mountains, lakes and all nature there and I feel like as if I’m in the picture book world.
最後に、カモフラにカモフラを組み合わせて着ても、かなりマッチすることがこの旅で判明しました。At last, I found that the combination of more than 2 camouflages looks cool on this trip.
